Nelson & Marlborough Institute of Technology

In the year 1904, the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology was founded, previously known as the Nelson Technical School. This institute merged with Nelson College in 1930, providing students with many new technical and part-time courses. In 1971, Nelson Polytechnic went on to become an authorized technical university. The Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is a government-run, excellent  higher education institution with campuses in Nelson and Marlborough, at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. From degree to postgraduate level, each campus provides a different range of programs. It currently provides courses in a variety of fields, include arts, engineering, business, computer & IT, social sciences, writing, and tourism.

To the highest Category 1 standard, students can choose from over 100 qualifications accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.In collaboration with industry, NMIT’s globally recognized credentials are established to ensure they represent current and future developments in the industry. Students can work and gain practical experience as well as theoretical expertise on real-world projects. With its small class sizes and its skilled, industry-savvy training team, NMIT provides individualized attention.
