Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec)

Wellington Institute of Technology , founded in 1904 as the Petone Technical School, received its official title in 2001. It is one of New Zealand’s oldest tertiary education institutions, but it has developed over time to integrate modern methods while keeping its emphasis on teaching real skills. In 2020, along with 15 other institutes, WelTec became part of the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST). WelTec is aligned with Public NZ TEI. It holds a global ranking by Webometrics at #9355 and New Zealand at #21. WelTec comprises six campuses, including Petone Campus, Porirua Campus, Te Kahui Auaha, Wellington Regional Construction Academy, Wellington CBD Hospitality Campus, and Auckland Campus. In Petone in Lower Hutt, the university has its main campus, which has the administrative department along with the library and other buildings or blocks. Annually, the Institute teaches close to 6,100 students.

It provides a variety of industry-led skills including careers to degrees and postgraduate programs. The programs are classified into different areas, including industry, infrastructure, innovation, engineering, health and social services, hospitality, IT, and tourism. With over 11,000 students enrolled in different courses, WelTec provides its students with a great educational environment.
